no It is the latest entry from director Jordan Peele, who has made two groundbreaking horror films in go out and us, with this story of unidentified flying objects revolving around the trilogy. While this movie is a mixture of horror and scenery, Nope also had a wild anime reference during its runtime which also references a project that was never realized and that would have plunged the prolific director into the world of Neo-Tokyo.
Towards the end of the movie, Keke Palmer’s character is seen slipping off her motorcycle in a scene that looks ripped straight out of the legendary anime, Akira. Interestingly enough, Warner Bros. had previously offered Peele a live-action Akira movie, though he eventually turned it down. However, it seems that the director was more than happy to share this unbridled reference to the film.

Akira’s creator, Katsuhiro Otomo, previously announced that a new anime series was in the pipeline for the legendary franchise, although years have passed since the original announcement and no news has been revealed.
